Afghanistan's Dire Food Crisis: The Time to Act is Now

Afghanistan is grappling with a food crisis of a magnitude hard to comprehend. According to the UN, an alarming 95% of Afghans are not receiving the sustenance they need, and in female-headed households, this number climbs to a near total 100%. Envision hospital wards populated by children who, at a year old, weigh what a six-month-old might in a developed country.

From July to March, the count of individuals facing acute hunger shot up from 14 million to 23 million. To sustain their families, many are compelled to make agonizing choices that lead to compromises on the quality, quantity, and diversity of their food. The fallout is deeply concerning, with rising rates of child malnutrition and devastating impacts on the mental and physical health of countless people.

In the midst of this bleak scenario, the Zhwand Foundation stands as a beacon of hope. We are working tirelessly in our target areas to alleviate this hunger crisis. While the challenges are immense, our commitment remains unwavering.
